What an amazing five-days we had with marching, dancing, singing and howling at the moon at the Occupy National Gathering in Philadelphia! Check out the photos!
We brought the voices of the 51% of the 99% in a Feminist General Assembly (FemGA). The turnout was amazing with people from all across the country participating and engaging in shared values and meaning of feminism and how it has affected their lives. This gathering was attended by feminists of all genders. (View)
The FemGA resulted in two working groups — action and women’s declaration. On the Fourth of July, we went into action creating a “Revolution Now” human billboard in front of Independence Hall and singing songs of peace along the July 4th parade route.
Read about the actions (here) and (here). Later, the women’s declaration working group read a draft declaration. (View). The declaration continues to generate energy from those who would like to continue to wordsmith it. If you would like to join the conversation in crafting this working document, register here for the Women Occupy call on July 27. Next, let’s bring the voices of women to the one-year anniversary of Occupy Wall Street. Tell us if you’ll join Women Occupy in NYC or organize an action in your community or local occupy!
Plus, we have an opportunity to join an exciting action to protest GOP repression of women’s reproductive rights and it’s called Bring Your Vagina to the RNC! Women’s rights are taking a serious pounding–from anti-choice legislation to economic inequality to war and occupation overseas that disproportionately affect women’s lives. It’s time to bring in some real vagina power. We’ve been invited to join CODEPINK and Eve Ensler’s V-Day to create vibrant creative actions at the RNC and join in the mass marches and rallies planned in Tampa August 27-30. Sign up here to join us.
